๐ Sensory Bin Fun with Sand! ๐๏ธ
Digging, scooping, pouring, and exploringโsand sensory bins are more than just fun! Sensory play helps children develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and problem-solving abilities while providing valuable tactile experiences. Whether they're filling cups, making tracks, or searching for hidden treasures, children are learning through play every step of the way. Sensory bins also encourage language development as kids describe textures, actions, and discoveries.
Memory matching games help 3-year-olds build vocabulary, listening, and memory skills through fun, play-based learning. They also encourage expressive language, turn-taking, and following directions during interaction with others. In speech therapy, these games can be used to practice speech sounds and strengthen overall communication skills.

Exploring different tastes, textures, and colors helps babies build healthy eating habits, develop oral motor skills, and become more comfortable with a variety of foods over time. Even one tiny (or big) bite of broccoli is a great step toward confident eating!
Buttoning shirts is a great OT activity because it helps children develop both hand-eye coordination and motor planning skills. As a child looks at the button and buttonhole and guides their fingers to line them up correctly, they are strengthening visual-motor integration (hand-eye coordination). The task also requires motor planning, as the child must figure out the sequence of movements needed to grasp, position, push, and pull the button through the hole. Repeated practice builds independence with daily self-care skills while improving fine motor control, bilateral coordination, and problem-solving abilities.

Congratulations to our most recent TCT Graduates!
Pulling a weighted laundry basket is a fun โheavy workโ activity that gives kids important sensory input to help them feel calm and focused. It also builds core strength, coordination, and motor planning skills needed for everyday tasks like writing and dressing. Simple activities like this can make a big difference in helping kids stay regulated and ready to learn.
