Generous Hearts - Issuu 04/16/2026

In many companies, the act of giving back lives in a spreadsheet line item, sponsorship form, or silent auction donation item. The intent is good, but the impact can feel scattered.

Two local organizations working alongside the Northsore Community Foundation offer a clear picture of what it can look like when corporate giving becomes intentional: Kent Design Build, a Covington-based construction firm guided by its internal mantra, “Lead. Build. Serve.” and Fidelity Bank, a Louisiana based community bank, that built structure around its giving through a formal program designed to meet nonprofit needs in a variety of ways.

Strong nonprofit organizations do not exist by chance. They are built and sustained by people willing to give more than their time — people who lend their judgment, experience, and relationships to something larger than themselves.

At its best, board service is not ceremonial. It is rewarding. Across the Northshore, the Northshore Community Foundation (NCF) has long relied on volunteer leaders who understand that serving on a board is both a responsibility and a privilege. These individuals help guide the foundation’s mission, ensure accountability, and strengthen the nonprofit ecosystem that serves the region.

For 25 years, Pelican Urgent Care has quietly built a reputation as one of the Northshore’s most trusted names in walk-in care. Founded in Slidell by emergency physician Dr. Kumar K. Amaraneni, Pelican was born from a simple idea: that urgent care could feel personal, not transactional. Today, that vision is carried on by the next generation - Dr. Kumar’s children, Jenny and Johnny Amaraneni, and his nephew, Dr. Ujwal Meka, who help lead the business and patient engagement.
