Without data centers, GDP growth was 0.1% in the first half of 2025, Harvard economist says | Fortune 10/22/2025

U.S. GDP growth in the first half of 2025 was almost entirely driven by investment in data centers and information processing technology, according to Harvard economist Jason Furman. Excluding these technology-related categories, Furman calculated in a Sept. 27 post on X.com GDP growth would have been just 0.1% on an annualized basis, a near standstill that underlines the increasingly pivotal role of high-tech infrastructure in shaping macroeconomic outcomes.

Unions 'are Northwest Indiana,' labor leader says 08/31/2025

Northwest Indiana has the highest union density in the state, as it is home to nearly all of Indiana's major industrial employers, many of which are unionized. Having these good paying jobs is a strong economic driver as Northwest Indiana's gross regional product (GRP) per job exceeded the state average and was on par with the Chicago metro area.

Unions 'are Northwest Indiana,' labor leader says "Unions are Northwest Indiana," union leader Randy Palmateer said. "Union wages are why we have anything nice. Unions are why we have a middle-class American experience. Unions are the epitome of the Region."
