Now that the harvest is in, Its time for some upkeep on the Saturday bridge replacing some worn boards before the rains. It's one of my favorite farm features. The bridge over to our Aunt and Uncle's across the creek. So pretty in the fall.

And so it begins. A little later start this year but....tomato bisque soup and greenbeans. Turns out rainy days are good canning days.

Well they are all in. All 44. Next the cages and watering system. Our varieties are great this year. Cherokee purple, Better boy, Brandywine, Chef's choice, Beefsteak, Black Krim, Pineapple heirloom, Moskovich, Big Beef, Amanda orange, Oregon Spring, Japanese Black Truffle, Celebrity, Yellow Pear, Sweet Million, San Marzano, Roma, Legend , Bush Steak, Big Daddy, & Isis Candy. I think there needs to be a tomatoes tasting event late summer. Who are my diehard tomato lovers?

Some have asked us what's with the buckets? Well we plant our tomatoes around buckets drilled with holes. The buckets are filled with compost and when we water into buckets the plants get compost tea nutrients. Tomatoes are planted horizontally with first root set nearest the bucket. The plant will create new root sets along the stem. 46 plans this season.
