1. Welcome families’ perspectives!
Families need to know they are important and valued in our learning communities. Ask families about their experiences, and listen to their stories.

2. Offer ideas for extending children’s learning at home!
Ask questions in your classroom and offer families examples of open-ended questions that help scaffold children’s critical thinking. Share games or activities to try at home that complement what they have learned at school.

3. Share children’s explorations and growth!
Take pictures to show families what their children are learning. These photos can be used as conversation prompts to help their children recall and retell.
