What an incredible honor it was to speak at the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators (TABSE) 41st Annual State Conference 2026 this week.

Standing alongside my partner, Cody, we had the opportunity to lead a powerful conversation on overcoming imposter syndrome — or what I often call the leadership identity gap. That space where brilliance exists, but belonging still feels negotiable.

There is something sacred about looking out into a room of leaders and naming the quiet doubt so many carry… and then watching shoulders drop in relief. Because imposter syndrome thrives in silence — and it loses power when we speak it out loud.

For me, this wasn’t just a presentation. It was purpose in motion.

To impact others in overcoming imposter syndrome means:
• Helping leaders trust their earned seat at the table
• Reframing self-doubt as growth, not inadequacy
• Equipping people with tools to lead from confidence instead of comparison
• Creating spaces where authenticity is stronger than performance

Every time a leader chooses courage over self-criticism, the ripple effect reaches classrooms, campuses, and entire communities.

Grateful for the invitation. Grateful for the partnership. And most of all, grateful for every leader who said, “I needed this.”

Here’s to owning our voice, honoring our lived experience, and leading like we belong — because we do.
