Because this is a proposed rule and is not yet adopted, there is time for all of us, either in our professional roles, or as private individuals, to submit a written comment to indicate our opposition. You don’t need to receive grant funds, be a public health professional, or have credentials to comment on this proposed rule. Simply being a concerned individual is enough.

Join us in celebrating Charlotte Ahrens as the 2026 Distinguished Service in Public Health Nursing recipient! 🎉
This award recognizes a public health nurse’s contribution to public health nursing practice within their agency, community, region, state, nation, or globally by providing leadership in professional organizations, demonstrating outstanding public health nursing performance or other accomplishments relating to population health.
Throughout her career Char was dedicated to serving those who were underrepresented and marginally disadvantaged. Char strived to ensure that the local public health staff had the information and learning opportunities to best serve their communities. Char worked very closely with Tribal nations and played an instrumental rolling out the Health Disparities Grant to the tribes. Char played a large part in the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines to long term care agencies. The people of Wisconsin, public health nurses, and the public health system are in a better place because Charlotte Ahrens dedicated her career to advancing population health and serving others.

Join us in celebrating Rebecca Szydlowski as the 2026 Excellence in Public Health Nursing recipient! 🎉
This award recognizes public health nursing leadership in achieving one or more objectives from the Healthiest Wisconsin Health Priorities or WI State Health Improvement Plan at either a community or systems level within their jurisdiction.
Rebecca has made a remarkable impact on her community through her compassionate, data-driven approach to care. TB testing and care coordination system for low-income, uninsured, and immigrant populations by securing a State of Wisconsin grant to sustain the work resulting in nearly 50 people being tested who otherwise might not have been. In each of her roles, Rebecca meets people where they are, building trust and removing barriers to care. Overall, Rebecca represents the best of what public health nursing can be: a skilled, well-rounded, compassionate nurse who works at both the community and systems level to make Sauk County healthier for everyone.
