Tropical Storm Arthur has formed near the Gulf Coast of southern Texas. Arthur has sustained winds of 45 mph and is forecasted to move northeastward today along the Texas coast and then farther inland over southeastern Texas and southwestern Louisiana by tonight.

Arthur is expected to produce rainfall totals of 5 to 10 inches, with isolated higher totals near 20 inches, through early Friday from the Mid and Upper Texas coast east-northeast into southern and central portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, along with western portions of Georgia and the Florida Panhandle. This could generate dangerous to life-threatening flash flooding.

Over the next couple of days, Tropical Storm Cristina (formerly Tropical Depression Three-E) is expected to move near or along the coasts of Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador. Life-threatening flooding and mudslides are possible as heavy rainfall totals of 4–8 inches, with isolated amounts up to 12 inches, are forecast through Thursday.
