Exactly how I’m feeling after a quick weekend trip east. Cruised around a sweet Jeep and learned some roads in an area I’ll be hunting in the fall. And while this was supposed to be just a turn and burn scouting trip Brady took me on an amazing detour to some hot springs. Ahhh… I’d make a weekend trip again just for the drive to the hot springs 😍😍😍

THAT WASN’T IT…. Not one but TWO turkeys!! lol. One of the others hung around a hair too long and ended up coming home with me too.

Could one-meelion!!! I solo hunt a lot and I’m MUCH more comfortable solo deer, bear, or elk hunting. The closest turkeys to where I live are like 4 hours away so I just don’t get to see them and have a good understanding of their habits, cycles, etc like I do big game. So turkeys have been very humbling for me over the years.
My biggest problem is because I am teaching myself, I really don’t have a ton of knowledge and second guess every single decision. So much so that I don’t give it an enough time and change it up, most likely too soon.
Same thing almost happened here as well. Was solo and was just about to make the call that I needed to try something different to get within range when up from the draw I see this guy all fanned out and strutting along right to my calls.

Super proud of myself as all my previous turkeys have been someone else calling, dumb luck, etc. This one was all me. I scouted the day before, made the plan for first light, picked the blind locations, and used all the calling abilities I had to get this one in my lap.

Hands DOWN one of my most favorite things on vacation is morning coffee. Maui morning coffee at 5:45 am while it’s 75 degrees out is pretty friggin awesome!!
