β€οΈπŸ–€πŸ’š Happy Juneteenth!

Today we celebrate Juneteenth, commemorating June 19, 1865β€”the day freedom finally reached the last enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth is a time to honor resilience, reflect on our nation's history, and celebrate the ongoing pursuit of liberty, equality, and opportunity for all.

As we gather with family and friends, let us remember the importance of freedom and the strength that comes from unity and understanding.

Wishing everyone a meaningful and joyful Juneteenth.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ This Day in History – June 10, 1776 πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
On this day in 1776, the Continental Congress appointed a committee to draft a declaration explaining why the American colonies sought independence from Great Britain. The committee included future Founding Fathers Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert Livingston.
Just 24 days later, their work would become the foundation of the Declaration of Independence, changing the course of American history forever.

250 years ago, the road to independence took a decisive turn.

June 7, 1776 – Richard Henry Lee introduced the Lee Resolution to the Continental Congress, declaring that the colonies "are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States." This was the first formal step toward the United States Declaration of Independence adopted less than a month later on July 4.
