Rad Dad Wrestling History - Episode 3
Did you know that there was a WCW Women's Cruiserweight Championship?
This is Rad Dad Wrestling History!
In early 1997, World Championship Wrestling began a partnership with Japanese women's wrestling promotion Gaia Japan.
The 130lb weight limit title would be decided in a four woman tournament that began on the March 31st edition of WCW Monday Nitro and ended on the April 7th edition of WCW Main Event.
After that night, the WCW Women's Cruiserweight Championship was never mentioned on WCW television again and was solely defended in the Gaia Japan promotion, changing hands twice during its year long existence before being vacated and retired in early 1998.
With the rise of women's championships over the last few years and the fact that WWE does own all WCW trademarks, theoretically they could revive the Women's Cruiserweight Championship anytime they want.

448 days as Matt Pro Wrestling Grand Champion. 10 defenses across 5 promotions. 41 challengers across singles, a triple threat, a fatal 4-way and a roster-wide rumble.
For 64 weeks I got to live out a dream. I proudly waved the flag of Matt Pro Wrestling as MPW's premier singles champion.
The opportunity to travel across the northeast for 15 months spreading MPW's message of autism awareness gave the entire reign that much more purpose. A higher calling than just myself.
Some wrestlers will never even get half the opportunities I did during my run. I knew that I had to give everything I had. The Grand Title brought out the absolute best in me every show.
My challengers and the pressure of the company on my back only made me a better Pro Wrestler in every aspect across the board.
I couldn't falter. I couldn't disappoint. I had to prove my worth to the MPW faithful. And it worked. I became the people's choice more and more as the run went on. I'm so proud of what we all accomplished.
Depending on the day, I could name any one of a handful of title defenses as the "best match of my career". The fact that I'm spoiled for choice from my run is truly a blessing.
Thank you Matt Pro management for believing in me. You saw the resilient wrestler behind the fun loving dad and let me push myself to my physical and mental limits.
Thank you Matt Pro fans for supporting me. You are the reason that one of my Grand Title defenses was printed in Pro Wrestling Illustrated, a true bucket list moment in my career.
If by some happenstance this is my only run at the top of an independent promotion then I couldn't have asked for a better experience. That being said... Who knows what heights I can reach with a second singles title reign someday...
Dare to dream and dream to dare.
