Driver Arrested After Hit-and-Run Crash Injures Pedestrians on Duval Street

The Key West Police Department has arrested a driver following a hit-and-run crash last night, Sept. 21, in the 200 block of Duval Street.

A black Toyota SUV struck two pedestrians in the crosswalk at the intersection of Duval and Greene streets. Attempting to flee, the driver accelerated losing control of the vehicle, colliding with two parked cars, flipping the Toyota on its side on the 200-blk of Duval.
KWPD secured the scene as a large crowd formed and coordinated the removal of the damaged vehicles.

Key West Fire Rescue treated the two pedestrians on scene. The driver of another vehicle involved was transported to Lower Keys Medical Center for treatment.

The driver was arrested at the scene and taken to the Monroe County Detention Center. He faces two felony charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving injuries, along with a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.
