Hello Locals!

Marine Discovery Center in NSB is participating in a Halloween candy wrapper recycling effort. I know I will participate! Will you?

This year, we are participating in Loggerhead Marinelife Center's Unwrap the Waves candy wrapper recycling program!

In their biggest year, the program helped recycle over 272,595 candy wrappers. Join us in keeping our seas plastic free by dropping off all non-recyclable candy and snack wrappers at Marine Discovery Center from now until 11/13!

Today I am talking science fair kits! These are the BEST. I have used them with my own kids and the curriculum alone is worth the price of the kit. They come with all the supplies and skillfully scaffolded instructions to lead students through the scientific method.

One of the most challenging lessons to write for this age group and skill set was the lesson on global tides πŸŒŽπŸŒ•πŸŒž.

Imagine a bulge of ocean surface that reaches toward the moon. Now set it all in motion. Ocean surface levels rise and fall here on earth as the relationships between celestial bodies constantly change. I'm proud of the hands-on activity I designed to demonstrate part of this phenomenon. It will really get kids thinking!
