School's out, but the Library is still ON, providing programs every day -- along with all the books, movies, periodicals and more we offer in person (and online, 24/7).

This week is our monthly movie matinee, at 3 pm on Tuesday. We can't promote the title on social media -- but it's a recent release that's an adaptation of a novel based on the story behind a Shakespeare play. And it starts with "H."

Summer Reading kicks off this week, so if you have kids, stop by to pick up your reading logs and check out our Saturday offerings -- a special program with Ranger Katy from the National Key Deer Wildlife Refuge at 11 am Saturday. Stick around or come back for our STEM Saturday program from 1-3 pm -- we're making catapults!

We also have Adult Summer Reading -- pick up a card to record your reading and enter for prizes! If you don't know what you want to read, ask us or check out our display of Beach Reads to find a page-turner.

So much cool stuff happening at the Library this week!

If you're mahong-curious but worried about jumping in, consider our Mahjong for Beginners, from 12:30-2:30 pm on Mondays! Experienced players will be there to help you get started.

On Wednesday, our Library Book Club is meeting at noon and 5 pm to discuss "Trust" by Hernan Diaz.

And we've got a special treat on Saturday -- the Island Guitar Recital in the Palm Garden at 10 am!

Remember, you don't have to have a Monroe County Public Library card to take part in programs (though we'd sure like to help you get one!).

Thanks to our remarkable Friends of the Key West Library organization for making today's author talk with JJ Fleming happen. Fleming discussed his new middle grade reader, Wonders of Shadow Key, with several of our local middle school students. Each student was given a free copy of the novel, too.
