A reminder that hurricane season is officially here

For over 100 years, locals have shared the legend that as long as the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto stands, Key West will be protected from the full force of a hurricane.

Thank you Marlins!!!

They’re doing it again! The Miami Marlins are supporting the Key West Police Athletic League by proclaiming Key West Day.
The game on July 11th at 4:10 at the Loandepot Stadium pits the Marlins against the Cleveland Guardians. It’s the fourth year that the Marlins have supported PAL with a special Key West Day. Key West residents will receive a special ticket price, and $5 of each ticket will be donated to PAL.
“The City is excited to partner with the Marlins for this special event,” said City Manager Brian L. Barroso, “which will combine Key West Day with a belated Fourth of July celebration recognizing the Nation’s 250th birthday. Florida Keys Media Group General Manager Rick Lopez has been working with the Marlins front office to create a playlist for the event that highlights Key West songs across generations and artists.”
Barroso noted that Key West Legislative Liaison Todd Stoughton worked with Lopez to make this event happen.
