Learning the Forward Stitch!🪡🧵

In our Art of Textile and Fashion studio, we begin with the basics by learning how to thread a needle, control the thread, and practice the forward stitch, one of the most essential techniques in textile work.

We will understand how simple stitches can become the foundation of drawing!

This skill helps build patience, coordination, and creativity, key elements in the arts!

Thank you for trusting us and the classes we love: Art Studio for Kids, Art Studio for Kids and Tweens, and The Art of Textile.
At Dot, making and art history go hand in hand. Our kids learn through creating while connecting their work to artists, movements, and traditions across time. Inspired by figures and cultures such as Anni Albers, Greek art, Caravaggio, and the Renaissance, students explored plaster, paint, textile, and sculpture to understand art as a living language. These classes nurture curiosity, process, and confidence, helping each child discover their own creative voice. We are truly grateful to share this journey with your children 💚❤️💜

Thank you the .fl and the for supporting our program and providing this amazing space. We are eternally grateful🫶

We are Rooted in Art History! 🎨📚🧑‍🎨

At DOT we don’t just teach kids to make art, we teach them where it comes from and why it matters!

Kids ages 8-12 are experimenting with geometry through drawing and painting, inspired by the Monaco Pools by , which are part of the public art program on Key Biscayne.

Our program is deeply rooted in art history, introducing young artists to the great masters, movements, and techniques that have shaped the art world.

From Renaissance painters to modern innovators, our students see, learn, and create with historical context, understanding the artistic process and its evolution.

Guided by instructors with Master’s degrees in Art, we provide an immersive, knowledge-driven experience—not just an art class, but a journey through art history tailored for kids.

We can’t wait to bring this experience back to our students!

With Master’s degrees in Art and years of experience, Laura Villarreal & Lorena Vélez bring both artistic expertise and a passion for teaching..

What is the difference between a painting and a print? And what about monotype—how is it different from other printmaking techniques? These were the kinds of questions we explored during class today in our lesson on understanding monotype, a unique printmaking technique. While learning about Andy Warhol and the Pop Art movement, the children’s faces were amazing to watch as they observed the final result!
