Congratulations to Team 619A for ranking in the top 3 for skills, top 3 in the overall tournament, and qualifying for states by winning the Design Award at Miami Coral Park on 11/13. Special mention to Team 619B who also participated in this competition and made it through to the elimination matches.

This past Halloweekend, team 619A represented our Mecha Makos Robotics Team at the Best in Southwest Competition in Naples. The team won the Innovative Award for their spectacular robot design as well as their innovative Star Wars-themed costumes!

School may be out, but the Mecha Makos Robotics club is just getting started with their week long summer training through zoom beginning June 14th at 10:00am! We will be going over topics including design, programming, and notebook skills, made to strengthen and prepare the team for success in the upcoming season!

Sadly the VEX VRC 2020-2021 Season has come to an end for most of our teams at MAST Academy, but as a whole our club could not be prouder of the efforts made by the students from all of our teams. Each team created a fully functional robot that with programming have extensive autonomous periods and reliable driver control periods. We want to congratulation all our teams and wish our 619A Team good luck as they go to States by placing 4th in the Region. Make us all proud as representatives of the Mecha Makos Robotics Club! Go Makos! Although our VEX season may have ended, our MATE season continues as we meet Tuesdays via Zoom and Wednesdays in the Engineering Lab to prepare for this year’s competition in June.

Coding has always been a big part of our competitions, as without it how would the robot move. But this year it is extremely important to the success of our teams. Unlike years prior, the autonomous period for this year's competition is one minute long and displays our coders abilities. Last week our A team had a 63-point autonomous period, and will continue to use this autonomous for our following competitions. Next week all of our teams will compete for a chance to qualify for this year's States competition. Good Luck to you all!

Last week’s Remote Pre-Recorded Skills Tournament was a success for our 619A Team. Inspection ran smoothly, the team performed well in both the driver control and the autonomous period displaying the great promise this team has of performing well in future competitions. Congrats to our team and good luck on the next one.

Our Mecha Makos are competitive, driven, and prepared. The 619A team competes today, January 15th, in a Remote Pre-Recorded Skills Tournament demonstrating how our club and the REC Foundation have accommodated competitions to be COVID-friendly.

Coming off the break, our Makos have hit the ground running through the construction of this year's field in the engineering lab. As our teams are getting ready to compete in virtual and in-person competitions, they have been adding the finishing touches to their robots and will be practicing on the field next week. Our competition better watch out because these Mecha Makos are Fast and Furious!

Our Mecha Makos have been meeting every Tuesday to start the MATE 2020-2021 season. During such meetings, they have been discussing the tasks and preparing the team for the competition.
