It is with great sadness we say goodbye to the founder and owner of Warrior Ridge Training. Shannon Hunter will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. May he rest in peace and continue to protect us in spirit.
God bless and goodbye.
Update: this class has been cancelled.

Ever heard of "Gell-Mann Amnesia"?
Essentially, you read an article written on a subject you know well. You realize that the scribe, journo or pose-author has little to no real understanding of the facts or the issues associated with the subject. Sometimes the article is so wrong that it alters or transposes the real facts and information to inadvertently or purposefully corrupt the way you see or think about the subject (e.g., wet umbrellas cause the rain).
Clearly the claim in the example isn't based on any objective reality that we can fairly argue. Something as fundamental as what causes rain to fall. But what does that say about the articles that we read when we ourselves have no expertise or knowledge of the subject matter? We may blindly take the word of the person writing the article and become self amused by the knowledge we have gained.
Take this a step further... When people read an article about a subject that they know nothing of and then take the "facts" that they learned (erroneous, inaccurate or otherwise) and introduce this information on social media they are spreading false information with amazing effectiveness and efficiency.
We've seen this a lot in the last 10 years aye?
I have never seen false information proliferated on any industry more than the fi****ms industry. How is it that there can be so many "experts" in a field where so few actually taken the simple steps to coordinate hands-on training for themselves in an effort to gain real knowledge and capabilities in the safe handling and effective use of fi****ms?
Would you give your 16yo the keys to your vehicle after they've just finished reading a great article titled, "How to Operate a Motor Vehicle with Extreme Safety"? I don't think you would.
Make no mistake, operating a vehicle safely is not at all less complicated or more nuanced than safely using a firearm in a life threatening situation. Point and shoot? No.
Take inventory of the fi****ms that you use to defend yourself and your home. Whether they be the newest and slickest semi-auto that you've just purchased with your stimulus or Grandpa's old shotgun and ask yourself this question, "How well trained am I and do I have enough confidence in my abilities to use this firearm in a self-defense situation?"
Consider getting some training so that you can both defend yourself and your loved ones and avoid going to jail because of something you thought you knew because you read it in an article...
