Allie Beach, from the Kettering Fairmont Class of 2009, takes the alumni spotlight today. A Firebird to her core, Allie headed home to Kettering Schools 15 years ago as a paraprofessional at Prass, a role she held for 12 years, before heading to the high school as an Intervention Specialist.

As a student, Allie played volleyball and was on the swim team. When she wasn’t competing on her own, you’d still find her cheering on the Firebirds as a member of Spirit Club or planning school events with class council. Allie was active in Young Life and remains connected with many friends, teachers, and coaches still today.

One of the unforgettable moments that stands out as an example of what makes Fairmont such an incredible place for all students dates back to 2007 at the Varsity Boys Basketball Senior Night game. Allie recalls, “Matty Kauffman, who had Down Syndrome and was manager of the basketball team, was put into the game for senior night… and scored!” Fans from both teams went wild celebrating this shot heard around the community.

Today, Allie continues to celebrate the achievements of students, staff, and families across Kettering. She is an assistant coach of the Fairmont Swim and Dive team, the head coach of the Oak Creek Flippers summer swim team, and logs more hours at Fairmont sporting events than most athletes.

"I’ve always been a Firebird and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. There’s just something about this place that brings alumni back. I absolutely loved my time in high school, and now I get to help students not only learn, but hopefully love this place too."

Check out this Building and Equipment Grant in action at the Kettering Rec Center! We are proud to be one of the community partners in this project designed to enhance the positive after-school educational experiences of Kettering kids.

“Seeing students immediately take advantage of the new space was a meaningful reminder of the impact that thoughtful investments and strong community partnerships can have on young people. We are proud to play one small but important role in the larger network of community support that helps students succeed both inside and outside the classroom,” said Shauna Lewallen, Recreation Operations Superintendent.

For this week’s spotlight, we are proud to highlight Fairmont High School Class of 2013 alumna Lexee (Hayes) Miller! 🔦

Lexee has spent the last four years with some of our youngest Firebirds as a kindergarten teacher at JFK Elementary. Her deep roots in Kettering go back to her own high school days, where she played soccer and loved cheering on the Firebirds from the student section at every home football and basketball game.

Today, when she isn't busy building relationships and celebrating the growth of her kindergarteners, Lexee loves going to concerts,being outdoors, and spending time with her husband and one-year-old son.

Lexee loves “the opportunity to give back to the district that played such an important role in my own education." 💙

We’re excited to bring our Faculty Friday Alumni Spotlights back for the new school year! Today, we shine the alumni spotlight on Sissy (Elam) Courtney from the KFHS Class of 1984. Sissy started out at Moraine Meadows but has spent most of her career at JE Prass teaching 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade over the years. Her students and colleagues love the energy and enthusiasm she brings to even everyday tasks.

Sissy’s best memories of growing up in Kettering are making lifelong friends and Friday night football games! Working in the district has always felt like coming home because she gets to see staff members and people she grew up with everywhere she goes. “It’s exciting to see how Kettering has changed and evolved over the years. I'm a proud member of the Firebird community!”

In addition to being a Firebird herself, Sissy raised both of my sons in Kettering. She shares that they have, “grown into amazing adults, and I know that Kettering Schools helped contribute to their success. I'm grateful for the role the district played in their lives."

When she’s not busy at Prass, you might spot Sissy volunteering, enjoying events around town, or traveling to Vegas with friends. She is fully embracing “Gramma Mode” and loves watching movies, lounging by the pool, and getting lost in a good book. ☀️📚🚲 Kettering City Schools

We're loving the reunion photos and stories from the last few weeks! Thanks to these fabulous Firebirds from KFHS 1986 and KFHS 1996 and dynamite Dragons of Fairmont West 1976 and Fairmont 1963 for sharing photos. Anyone from 2006 or the mini reunion for FW 1973 ready to show off how much fun you had together?

Next up is the KFHS Class of 2001 on Saturday from 2-5 at Eudora then the all classes Alumni HoCo on October 9th!
