To the moms who show up every day, even when they are tired. To the grandmothers, stepmoms, foster moms, aunties, sisters and friends who help raise, guide and protect.
To the women who love with patience, carry more than most people see, and somehow still find a way to give.

Thank you.

Mother’s Day is not just about perfect cards or perfect families. It is about recognizing the people who helped shape us, comfort us, challenge us and believe in us.

Today, we celebrate them with gratitude, honesty and love. Happy Mother’s Day.

We want to sincerely apologize—KFMJ is currently off the air due to circumstances outside of our control.

Our broadcast tower is located on a high mountain, which means repairs require flying in an engineer and waiting for a safe weather window to access the site once he arrives. We’re actively working to get everything back up and running as quickly as possible, but it may take a little time.

In the meantime, you can still listen to your favorite KFMJ programming:

-On the Ketchikan Radio Center app
-Online at: https://alaskafirstmedia.com/kfmjfm/

We truly appreciate your patience and support, we’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.

The winter weather advisories for Prince of Wales Island, Ketchikan, and Annette Island have been extended through Saturday morning at 10 AM due to the anticipation of a longer-duration snow event.

We are expecting hit-or-miss snow showers to continue into the weekend, which could bring as little as 6 inches and as much as 15 inches of snow to the southern panhandle from Thursday until Saturday. Total snow accumulations will depend heavily on daytime temperatures, with highs looking to reach into the upper 30s to low 40s. High daytime temperatures combined with the increased sun angle may limit overall snow accumulations or turn precipitation to a rain/snow mix, especially near the coast. Showers are expected to diminish into Sunday.

The winter weather advisories can be viewed here: https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=AJK&product=WSW&format=txt&version=1&glossary=0
