Blue Turtle Knives
I upsycle old tools and scrap wood to create one of a kind pieces of art that can be used everyday. I make handmade knives from all local recycled materials.
Every piece I make has its own life and story behind it, just ask me! I make everything from pareing knives to Philippino headhunting knives. Some of the materials I use for the blades include crosscut saws from the 1900's, leafsprings, worn out files, and even bronze screws. For the handles I use mostly local hardwood cherry and black walnut. I have also used antler bone, leather, tropical hardwood, and american chestnut. My sheaths are from 100 year old machine belts.
Waxed leather scabbard for a poly dagger…why didn’t I have this as a kid?
Every manufacturer has hiccups but knives should come sharp…good thing dull can be fixed. These machined aluminium scales are sweet!
Some iconic and interesting bowies came in today for cleaning, repair and sharpening. Do you know what they are? have you ever owned one?
What is this thing?
Hollow & convex ground Japanese chef knife. Never seen anything quite like it. This big boi is over 1/4” thick! Very odd to sharpen I convexed the top then hit the back side on 1k & 6k Japanese water stones.

I have a love hate relationship with bone, but it’s fantastic when it cooperates. (I only assisted with this one)
