For Immediate Release:

Monroe, Wa– June 13, 2026 – Grand Prix America (GPA) today announced that Bryan Richards will be stepping aside as President, effective immediately. This decision comes as a result of Bryan’s increased workload as his business continues to grow at JJR Engineering & Fabrication, as well as family commitments.

In light of this transition, the GPA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Ed Thompson, our Media Director, as the new President of Grand Prix America. “While this was a difficult decision, I believe it is in the best interest of Grand Prix America,” said Bryan Richards. “I am proud of what we have accomplished the last couple of years, including our collaboration with HRL on the GP Challenge which culminated in 14 Grand Prix Hydro's racing in San Diego 2024. Reviving Seafair as a Grand Prix race was also a big milestone for GPA and the many teams from the Seattle area. I have full confidence in Ed’s ability to guide the organization moving forward.
