Control the Night

It's wild to look back on the amount of effort that was required to organize and promote an event.
Working with venues, sound, lighting, security, vendors, DJs, hotels, booking agencies, local law enforcement, porta potty suppliers (unless you just happen to acquire some from a job site) was the easy part.

With social media you can have massive reach with little to no effort.
Success then, greatly relied on physically placing media in potential attendees hands and hoping word of mouth spread it even further.

Flyer design and printing. The time spent traveling to distribute the flyers to businesses and events.
Info lines and custom made websites.

Burning hundreds of demo CDs, printing jackets for each, then shrink wrapping them all. Now it's upload and share a link.

All this while also working, going to school full time, and partying in two different cities every weekend.

Non-stop for several years straight. How did we do it?!?
Youth probably... or in the words of the immortal Rick James, "cocaine's a hell of a drug".

I'm kidding of course and RIP Rick James.

It was easy because it never felt like work, just good times spent amongst great friends.

This is more a reflection on how drastically the game changed in a short amount of time.

Wait... is THIS what getting old feels like?

I'll eventually be adding what flyers and pictures I have to this page. Mostly late 90's to around 2005 maybe?
