In racing, you leave the weekend with the things you know you need to fix, and then there are the one’s you learn about when you get her up on jackstands. Known: zip-tied tensioner bracket? New bracket done. Pulsing brakes at the end of the straight? Maybe it’s all those cracks. New rotors ordered and installed. Unknown: Ehy is there a puddle under the radiator? Oh, cause it’s been rubbing against the oil cooler tanks for 6 years and developed a pinhole leak when pushing it from the trailer to the garage. Nobody wants that! Except@if we found it o. The test day at ORP, it coulda been fatal. So, new radiator and a bracket to keep the two from fighting, and we are back in business. So major@silver lining there. Finally, what’s with those cracks on the wing mount points? Oh, just repeated vibration shearing through the trunk lid. A couple of load spreading plates to the rescue, and we’re good. While we are at it, Cool Shirt unit installed and prepping spare hubs with new bearings, because why not. So there you go. Bring on with

2022’s been a racing write-off for , what with jobs, houses, moving, etc. and got together for the first time in months (used car inspection) and guess what happened? Unplanned matching shirts. Go figure. Really missing . Shout out to , the other founding Wankelr.

Since the subframes are off, might as well take the time to the undercarriage. Will at least be cleaner down there when we have to swap transmissions mid race...

The day of paint is complete. We managed to make it to coffee mid afternoon, and totally willingly choose to lie on the sidewalk for a bit outside the coffee shop. Painting is hard.

We’re off to paint! A huge step forward on the project. We have a lot of learning and a lot of work to do over the weekend but we’re super excited to see how it turns out.

Working a bit on the new front end. Bonded in a few metal plates where we’ll inevitably take a bump in a vain attempt to not have the fiberglass shatter. Ask again in a season to see how this worked out.

Quick flashback to when the weather was warm, and the the wheel hadn't fallen off yet.

Since the car was down to an almost bare chassis anyway, why not take off the subframes and clean them up? Scott and Dave fabricated this sweet dolly!

The FC2000 style front end is fitted on the project car. It’s taking WAAAAY more work than we expected but it’s looking pretty good.

Well, there’s the problem! Looks like the ball joint broke right off when the car spun in turn 10. We’ll tape that back together and it will be good as new.
We’re not experts in suspension design, but are mostly sure it’s not supposed to work like that.
