☀️ Hot Weather Doesn't Mean Warm Water! 🌊
As temperatures rise across our region this weekend and into next week, many people will want to head to rivers, lakes, and other waterways to cool off. But while the air may feel like summer, the water is still dangerously cold.
Cold water can trigger an involuntary gasp reflex, rapid breathing, muscle cramps, and loss of swimming ability within minutes. Even strong swimmers can quickly find themselves in trouble.
Before you jump in:
✅ Wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket
✅ Never swim alone
✅ Keep a close eye on children near the water
✅ Know the water conditions and your limitations
✅ Be prepared for cold water shock
Enjoy the sunshine but respect the water. A refreshing swim can turn into an emergency in seconds when water temperatures remain cold.
Stay safe and make smart choices around the water this summer.

Last week, the Gift of Life was presented to the Junior and Senior class at Kentridge High School. This event serves as a powerful reminder of the consequences of distracted and impaired driving.
While it was staged, the message was unmistakable - one bad decision can change lives forever.
Thank you to Kentridge High School students/staff, Kent Police Department, King County Medic One, Tri-Med Ambulance, King County Fire Training Consortium, and all first responders who made this event possible.
Please drive safe and never impaired!
On June 3, 2026, memorial ribbons honoring Captain Brandon Minneman and Deputy Chief Jimmy Webb were retrieved by the IAFF 7th District Motorcycle Group. Ribbons are being collected throughout the state for the 10 fallen firefighters who will be honored at the 2026 Washington State Fallen Firefighters Memorial, to be held Sunday, June 14 at the State Capitol in Olympia.
The Motorcycle Group will es**rt the ribbons to the memorial, where a family member will place each ribbon on a Memorial Pike Pole. These pike poles hold the names of our fallen as a tribute to their dedication to the profession of public service, to protect life and property. They will never be forgotten.
