Did you know that, nationally, 30% of college students face food insecurity?

Flashes Fighting Hunger food pantry serves students, staff, and community members. Additionally, FFH provides meaningful leadership and work experience for students who manage daily operations.

Last year, Flashes Fighting Hunger served 2,175 individuals and engaged 324 volunteers who contributed more than 1,680 hours of service.

Our monthly food distribution with the Kent City Health Department takes place TODAY (Wednesday, February 26th) from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Stop by the Health Department Nurses Clinic (201 E. Erie St.) and pick up a bag of free food!

Stop by our pop up pantry! where we will be giving out free food with the help of Kent State Universities Flashes Fighting Hunger. TODAY!!!

We are excited to launch a new partnership this month with The Sanson Company--the University's produce supplier--that will significantly enhance our ability to provide produce and other fresh food items to community members.

Both the Kent State CARESCenter and Flashes Fighting Hunger will receive a weekly donation of food from Sanson to be distributed through each pantry.

Thanks to Sanson for their incredible generosity and their support of our food security efforts!

Tomorrow--Wednesday, January 15th--FFH will once again coordinate the monthly Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank drive-thru distribution on campus, and we need volunteers from 12:45-3:00 p.m. to make it happen! Currently, we only have two volunteers signed up!

Durning the week of Christmas we will be closed on the 24th and 27th (Tuesday & Friday). However, we be open on Thursday the 26th!

Flashes Fighting Hunger Kent State has back-to-back food distributions, both taking place on Wednesday, December 18th: one from 11:00am-1:00pm at the Kent City Health Dept. (201 E. Erie St., downtown Kent) and another from 1:00-3:00pm at Dix Stadium.

We need volunteers to help support each event, including:
—Packing food bags (8:30-10:00 am)
—Distributing food at the Health Dept. (10:45 am-1 pm)
—Assisting with distribution at Dix Stadium (12:45pm-3 pm)

Putting a call out for volunteers next week!

We are hosting TWO food distributions on Wednesday, December 18th--one with the Kent City Health Department in the morning in downtown Kent, and one with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank in the afternoon at Dix Stadium. Here are the three volunteer opportunities we’re trying to fill:

--Packing Food Bags: Wed., December 18th, 8:30-10:00 a.m., Flashes Fighting Hunger Kitchen in Tri-Towers
--Kent City Health Department Food Distribution: Wed., December 18th, 10:45 a.m.-1:00 p.m., 201 E. Erie St., Downtown Kent
--Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank Drive-Thru Distribution: Wed., December 18th, 12:45 p.m.-3:00 p.m., Dix Stadium

These events are ideal for both individual volunteers and groups/organizations who wish to volunteer together.
