On August 23rd at Chiawana Park in Pasco, our goal is to give away 300 backpacks filled with school supplies so students can start the school year feeling prepared and confident.
We’re not there yet, though. We still need more sponsors, businesses willing to serve as drop-off locations, and people who are simply willing to share our mission with others.
It truly takes a community to make something like this happen, and every backpack represents a child who knows their community believes in them.

One of the most amazing things about Sparkle Initiative is that we’re powered almost entirely by volunteers. No one is paid to do this work—we show up in the evenings, on weekends, and whenever life allows because we believe in our community.
What many people don’t see is that our volunteers also spend their professional lives serving others. They’re educators, social workers, healthcare professionals, business leaders, and advocates who give back both on and off the clock.
Today, we’re celebrating Georgina Moon as she hosts a graduation party for the hardworking EACAP graduates and their families at Leslie Groves Park. It’s a perfect example of who our volunteers are—not just when they’re wearing a Sparkle shirt, but every day in the work they do to build a stronger community.
We’re grateful to have people who don’t just talk about making a difference—they live it.
Sparkle Initiative is a local nonprofit focused on education, wellness, resources, and community. Our mission is to train and support the next generation of social workers while giving back through real community action.
We host events like our Back to School Bash, Self-Care Saturdays, holiday drives, and resource fairs, and through our partner ALCON MEDIA LLC we use radio shows—Wellness Días, Connecting Community, Connecting Businesses, and Radiante Mujer—to talk about mental health, recovery, prevention, and highlight the amazing people, businesses, and organizations making a difference in our community
School maybe ending, but we’re already preparing for the next one! Together we can help local students.
We are accepting donations of backpacks and school supplies.
