Every CBCT scan captures hundreds of slices and an enormous volume of data, with findings that extend well beyond the dentition. Having a consistent way to decide which scans you self-interpret and which you refer for specialist review matters.
The Traffic Light Protocol for OMR Referral is a free decision framework from BeamReaders, built from nearly a million CBCT interpretations. Cases are sorted into three categories: ๐ข Green, ๐ก Yellow, and ๐ด Red, with clear criteria and real-world examples from our oral and maxillofacial radiologists.

Deep Dive into the TMJ: A Radiologic Exploration with Dr. Dania Tamimi starts Friday, April 24 at 9 am Eastern!
REGISTER HERE โก๏ธ https://tinyl.co/4VFh
This is a two-day, in-depth course that tackles the TMJ through the lens of a radiologist and aims to help dentists develop their diagnostic skills when it comes to TMJ pathology. The course starts with the normal anatomy and embryology of the TMJs as a foundation for the diagnosis of abnormalities. The radiographic appearance on CBCT and MRI will be discussed as well as the diagnosis of the different types of internal derangements and arthritides. The second day will contain less common but equally important pathology that can be encountered in the dental clinic such as the congenital and developmental abnormalities, trauma and ankylosis and neoplasia. The temporal bone is the second half of the TMJ and its anatomic relationship creates situations of abnormality mimicking TMD. Its anatomy and some pathology will be reviewed. The course will end with formation of differential diagnosis for common clinical signs of TMJ disorders, such as limited oral opening, joint sounds and bite changes. If you are a TMJ enthusiast, this course is for you!
Day 1 Schedule:
8:30-9: Introductions
9-10: Anatomy and embryology of the TMJ
10-11:30: MRI analysis of internal derangement
11:30-12: Break
12-2: Degenerative joint disease (Osteoarthritis and Idiopathic condylar resorption)
2-3: Inflammatory arthritides. (Rheumatoid, Juvenile idiopathic, septic, pigmented villonodular synovitis)
Day 2 Schedule:
9-10: Congenital and developmental conditions affecting the TMJ
10-11: Trauma and ankylosis
11-11:45: Neoplasia and tumor-like lesions
11:45-12:15: Break
12:15-1:45: Temporal bone anatomy and entities mimicking TMD
1:45-3: Differential diagnosis for limited oral opening, joint sounds and asymmetries and open bites.

Why do 10-12% of dental patients refuse X-rays when the same refusal rates barely exist in medical imaging?
Our very own Dr. Dania Tamimi just explored that question on the TEDx stage at the University of Mississippi. In "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad X-Ray?", she breaks down the fear-trust dynamic behind imaging refusal, how radiation doses have dropped dramatically, and what clinicians can do to bridge that gap with their patients.
