James' 2024 album, "From Here." features funky keyboardist Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Grammy Award winning Hip-Hop producer Darrius “Deezle” Harrison (Lil’ Wayne, Drake, Nikki Minaj), legendary saxophonist Roger Lewis (Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Fats Domino), world renowned artist and trumpeter Shamarr Allen, soulful singer Erica Falls, and a who’s who of today’s New Orleans rappers - Kr3wcial and Alfred Banks.

40 = successful album release with my best writing to date, earthquakes in Mexico, blizzards in New Orleans, paid off my mortgage, contracted an exotic disease in Puerto Escondido that caused me to have my first recorded fever in life as well as substantial hair loss (which is getting better everyday thankfully), adopted a puppy, double homicide in the family, hot air balloon bday ride, satsuma wine making, girlfriend moved in, copyright/trademark issues using my name in Europe, working with a physical trainer 3 times a week, nasty neighbors, and lots of mezcal and wine. I learned a lot about who’s with me and who is not.

Glad to turn the page albeit symbolically. Today I’m starting 41 by installing a new toilet. I don’t feel 41. That’s just what my drivers license says. 🤷‍♂️ All I know is that I’m the best version of myself in this moment. ON Y VA!

You can't release a Neville Bros. and New Orleans Brass Band inspired song without enlisting the absolute truth! "When It Rains" from my new album "From Here." features Ivan Neville, Roger Lewis (Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Fats Domino), and Glen Finister Andrews

I felt like a kid in a candy store watching these guys make the vision come true in the studio. Roger's solo is incredible!

The song highlights the paradox that is New Orleans; a city often portrayed in a romanticized postcard version with “people dancing and having a real good time” all while the city is in disarray. Check it out!

Also featuring some of the Soul Brass Band horns: Miles Lyons on horn parts on trombone and Mark Levron on trumpet and tambourine!
