Attention Local 53 Brothers and Sisters:
Please note that our upcoming union meeting, originally scheduled for February 13, 2026, has been rescheduled to February 20, 2026, due to the upcoming Mardi Gras weekend.
We appreciate your understanding, and we would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Mardi Gras.
We look forward to seeing you on February 20th.
It is with profound sadness that we let the Local #53 family know of the passing of John "JC" Coates, Jr. on January 12th, 2026. There will be a service for him on February 4th, 2026 at noon at Greenwood Cemetery located at 5190 Canal Blvd #200, New Orleans, LA 70124. Anyone who knew him and would like to show their respects to the family are welcomed to come!

It is our sad duty to inform the Local #53 family of the passing of Brother Glenn Bordelon on December 18, 2025. His funeral and visitation information can be found in the below obituary. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. ❤️

We are pleased to announce that 4th year apprentice Ryan Dauss took home the trophy at the Southwest States MAC and will be bringing it home to Local 53. He and Local 53 coordinator Garrett Giglio worked very hard leading up to the competition and it paid off.
