⭐️BEHIND THE THERAPY ⭐️
This friend demonstrates a phonological process called “fronting”

Fronting is a phonological process in which a child substitutes a sound produced in the BACK of the mouth (e.g. K and G) with a sound produced in the FRONT of the mouth (e.g. T and D).

If your child is fronting, they may make errors like “I want tootie (cookie)”

This should resolve by age 3.5 but if it has not then an evaluation with a speech language pathologist is recommended.

In therapy, we are focusing on:
-differentiating between “front” and “back” sounds using visuals and tactile cues
-I will use the incorrect word (minimal pair) in a sentence to showcase how silly it sounds
-lots of repetition
