Our May Self-Care Tip of the Month: Spend 20 Minutes Outside Every Day

Spending time outside each day is one of the simplest ways to support your health, yet it’s often overlooked. As the weather shifts here in New England and we finally begin to see more sun and warmer temperatures, this is the perfect time to reconnect with the outdoors. Even just 20 minutes a day can have a meaningful impact on how you feel, both physically and mentally.

Being outside naturally encourages movement, whether it’s a walk, time in the yard, or simply standing in the sun and breathing fresh air. These small moments help improve circulation, support your body’s natural rhythms, and give your system a break from the constant stimulation of indoor environments. Fresh air and natural light also play an important role in regulating mood, energy, and sleep.

There’s also a calming effect that comes from being in nature. Stepping outside, even briefly, can help shift your nervous system out of a constant state of stress and into a more relaxed, balanced state. This allows your body to spend more time in a place where it can rest, repair, and function more efficiently.

The goal isn’t to make this complicated or turn it into another task on your list. It can be as simple as a short walk after a meal, sitting outside with your morning coffee, or taking a few minutes to step away from your day and get some fresh air. These small, consistent moments outdoors can begin to add up in powerful ways.

As we move through May, consider this a gentle way to build more movement and awareness into your routine. Your body responds to what you do consistently, and something as simple as stepping outside each day can help support your energy, your mood, and your overall wellbeing over time.

The weather may be a little wild here in New England right now, (Are we supposed to be wearing sandals or snow boots?! Asking for friend 😂) But it's always a good day to whip up a healthy delicious indulgent snack like our no guilt lemon bars!
What's your favorite no guilt goodie to bake on a rainy/snowing/hailing day?
If you want the recipe for our lemon bars, it's included in our FREE recipes section in our free SKOOL group!
