Important announcement regarding One Piece TCG!

Since we can't get product for the upcoming OP-16 release we have scheduled, we have to cancel the event- unfortunately, the Bandai reporter does not allow for this action, so this is the only way we can let you know.

We won't be scheduling Bandai events in the future, due to lack of retailer and player support- we wish we could, but we can't get any product or any OP support to speak of.

Upgrade Challenge League is about to begin another exciting season at Comic Boom!

Congratulations to all of our Season 3 play-off finalists: Seth Umstead, Dave Broughton, AJ Reagan, and our still-reigning Upgrade League Champion, Jerome Grondin!

There are three rules that we are changing for the upcoming league. Firstly, upgrade league will now be using the Standard ban-list instead of having no banlist, mostly due to the disproportionate strength of some common and uncommon cards.

Secondly, we are removing the "in-universe" point bonus that was in effect for the first three seasons of league. We found that players were making too many sacrifices to their decks' strategies in order to earn bonus points, which took away from the deckbuilding process.

Lastly, the final round of league will now be an 8-player swiss tournament instead of a 4-player play-off! The upper point-spread for the last two seasons of league were incredibly close, sometimes with the 5th-place player only being a couple of points away from 4th. Opening up the final round to the top 8 players instead of the top 4 will allow more players who build strong decks to compete for prizes. All players who play in the top 8 tournament will win store-credit.

Upgrade League remains to be the most fun, creative, and affordable way to play Magic! We've been having a blast building decks and testing our skill. Practice week for the next season of Upgrade League begins Wednesday, April 29th, at 6:00 PM! We hope to see you there!

Better late than never?

Man, I am so bad at this... I apologize to everyone keeping track at how bad I am at social media, most of you who know me, know how I feel about it. But today I feel that it is very important to thank all of you who help to allow me to do this for a living. Everyone who has joined the Comic Boom community in one way or another helps to keep us around. We do it for you just as much as we do it for ourselves. Today marks 19 years of Comic Boom! (NUTS!!!) and it is thanks to all of you that we can offer this space to the region. So starting today until free comic book day (or whatever it is called now-the first Saturday in May, and our biggest sale of the year) all trade paperbacks and graphic novels, new and used(and special orders!) will be 25% off. We have some plans that I hope will improve our game space this year as well. That mess in back that is the ebay store (and my public shame) must be cleaned up to make room for the growing gamer numbers!) Thank you everyone who has made this possible! And special thanks to Mrs. Boom!, without your support, we never would have made it this far! I will try to continue to make the experience the best I can for the next 19!
