🐾 Welcome Rooney! 🐾

Everyone give a warm welcome to Rooney! 💕 This sweet girl is joining us for our Basic Obedience Program and is ready to trade a few mischievous habits for some polished manners.

Rooney will be working with Mario until the early part of August, where they'll focus on building confidence, structure, and better everyday behaviors both at home and out in public.

During her stay, Rooney will be working on:

🐾 Keeping those playful puppy teeth to herself (less playful biting!)
🦴 Learning that toys are for chewing… not household items!
🙌 Practicing keeping all four paws on the ground instead of jumping on people
🎓 Building a strong obedience foundation and learning how to make great choices

She's already bringing plenty of personality, and we can't wait to watch her grow over the next several weeks. With consistency, patience, and a lot of fun along the way, Rooney will be on her way to becoming an even better family companion. ❤️

🐾 Welcome Gunner! 🐾

Everyone join us in giving a big Hendricks Kennels welcome to Gunner! 👏🐶

Gunner has already been training with us for 2 weeks and is off to a great start! Over the coming weeks, he'll be working on our obedience program, where he'll build a strong foundation with essential commands and manners.

He'll also be getting an introduction to our Retriever Program, which is designed to prepare dogs for bird hunting and retrieval both on land and in the water. 🦆💦 From developing retrieving skills to building confidence in different environments, Gunner has an exciting journey ahead of him!

We can't wait to watch him grow, learn, and develop into a well-rounded hunting companion and family dog. Stay tuned for updates on his progress! 🐾🎉

A snake avoidance clinic is a specialized training session designed to teach dogs to recognize and avoid venomous snakes, helping protect them from potentially deadly bites. This training can be a lifesaver for dogs who spend time outdoors, on trails, ranches, or even in their own backyard.

An added benefit? Dogs that recognize and avoid snakes are often more likely to alert their owners to the presence of a snake, providing an extra layer of awareness and safety for the entire family.

🐾🎓 Gus Has Graduated! 🎓🐾

After weeks of hard work, muddy paws, and plenty of retrieves, Gus officially graduated from our Retriever Program on May 30th! 🎉

Working alongside his trainer Ronnie, Gus built a strong obedience foundation, mastering commands like heel, sit, no, and place. Once those basics were locked in, he moved on to his retriever training, learning fetch, hold, drop, back, whistle commands, and everyone's favorite—water retrieving! 🌊🦆

Watching Gus grow in confidence, focus, and skill throughout his training has been a pleasure. Whether he's making retrieves in the water or showing off his obedience, this handsome boy is ready to make his family proud.

Congratulations, Gus! We're excited to see all the great things ahead for you. And a big shoutout to Ronnie for helping guide him every step of the way.

🐾 Weekend mode: ACTIVATED 😎

Vlad has officially clocked out for the week and is fully committed to weekend vibes — belly up, tongue out, and not a single worry in sight! 😂🐶

Whether you’re relaxing in the shade like photo #1 or smiling big for the camera like photo #2, Vlad says the only plans this weekend should include sunshine, snacks, and lots of tail wags. ☀️💚

Everyone meet Eva 🐾

Today was Eva’s very first day in our Retriever Program with Ronnie, and we’re excited to have her here! She’s starting her journey learning both obedience and retriever fundamentals, and we can already tell she’s going to be a fun one to work with.

Throughout the program, Eva will be working on obedience commands like here, heel, sit, no, and place, along with retriever skills such as hold, drop, and fetch.

One thing we love about our retriever program is the amount of time the dogs get to truly soak everything in. Training isn’t just repetition — it’s giving them the opportunity to learn, process, and build confidence through consistency and daily exposure.

We also believe owners are a huge part of the process because at the end of the day:
“You do best what you do most.”

We can’t wait to watch Eva grow and see her progress over the next few months. Stay tuned for updates on this sweet girl! 🐶🦆

🐾 Meet Vlad! 🐾

Vlad has officially entered our obedience program here at Hendricks Kennels and is already getting started the right way — building a strong bond with Edgar during these early days of training.

This bonding phase is one of the most important parts of the process. Trust, communication, and connection between dog and trainer lay the foundation for effective obedience and long-term success. 💪🐶

Training isn’t just about commands and structure — playful engagement is just as essential! From tug sessions to exploring the facility on walks, giving dogs time to simply be dogs, enjoy life, and have fun helps create confidence, balance, and a stronger relationship with their trainer.

Vlad is already settling in, loving the attention, and showing us his playful personality. We’re excited to watch his progress and share his journey along the way! 🐾

🐾 Banks is in the Home Stretch! 🐾

Meet Banks — this handsome guy has been putting in the work with Edgar here at Hendricks Kennels, and he is officially ONLY TWO WEEKS AWAY FROM GRADUATION! 🎓

The final two weeks of training are some of the most important. This is where we focus on reinforcing all the commands Banks has learned, building consistency, and fine-tuning his obedience skills to make sure everything becomes second nature. From reliability to confidence, this stage is all about polishing up the hard work he’s already put in!

We’re so proud of Banks and can’t wait to see him finish strong. Keep up the great work, buddy — graduation day is right around the corner! 🧡🐾
