A party to remember for our littlest graduates! 🌟

Dressed to impress and ready for their next adventure, our 3-year-olds celebrated a special milestone as they prepare to move up to the 4-year-old room. We are so proud of these sweet kiddos and all they have accomplished this year.

There's hardly a square foot of Operation Breakthrough that Bill Dunn Sr. has not made better. The first day he met OB's co-founders Sisters Berta and Corita, he offered his time, his team at JE Dunn Construction and introductions to his many friends in the community. OB was forever changed by the kindness of this fiercely loyal, quietly powerful mentor.

For decades, Mr. Dunn has been a pioneer in helping Operation Breakthrough grow.

He helped introduce the center to the philanthropic community, chaired our first Capital Campaign in 2002, served as Honorary Co-Chair for our 2018 Annual Fundraiser with his wife Jean, and smiled alongside OB kids as 100 children wished him a happy 100th birthday.

Mr. Dunn, we will miss you dearly.

Our 4th grade girls had such a great time at the Girls on the Run Serving Greater Kansas City 5K! 🏃‍♀️ Thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who came out to be running buddies and cheer our girls on every step of the way. 🩷

Sixty-one years ago, a bold idea took root: every child, no matter their zip code or family income, deserves a strong start in life. What began as an 8-week summer program in 1965 has since served more than 38 million children and counting.

Today, Head Start programs across all 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, and U.S. territories continue that promise every single day — offering early education, health screenings, nutritious meals, and deep family support.

Excited to officially share the HeLeads Workshop Series schedule for Summer 2026!

HeLeads Workshop, established by Kansas City Connection, is a free basketball initiative that uses the power of sport to help elementary school boys build leadership skills, teamwork, and emotional intelligence.

Each workshop includes a basketball clinic, mindfulness session ( +Wellness and AIMWell Yoga), empowerment panel + activity, and nutrition to go.

We’re also excited to offer free skill development workouts this year with Coach Steve Dulley B1GSkillDevelopment on June 10th and July 8th, providing OBT boys access to quality basketball training.

Middle school and high school students interested in leadership opportunities are encouraged to get involved through ambassador roles as well.

The OB Tigers flag football team had an amazing time at Media Day! Our young athletes got a behind-the-scenes look into the world of sports media through team and individual photos, plus interviews that introduced them to the many roles that help make the game possible. 🏈
