UPDATE /// Due to forecasted weather, maintenance work at I-70/I-435 has been postponed. Please note schedule changes below.

Temporary full closures of eastbound and westbound I-70 at I-435 and adjacent ramps are scheduled to begin Friday, Nov. 21, in Wyandotte County, weather permitting.

These closures are necessary for Kansas Department of Transportation bridge approach pavement repairs. Message boards have been placed in the area to alert motorists of upcoming closures. Detours will be marked.

The following will be fully closed to traffic at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 21:
• Eastbound I-70 at I-435;
• Eastbound I-70 to northbound I-435 loop ramp.

The following will be fully closed to traffic at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 21:
• Westbound I-70 at I-435;
• Northbound I-435 to westbound I-70 loop ramp; and
• Westbound I-70 to southbound I-435 loop ramp.

All lanes and ramps will be reopened to traffic by 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25.

Traffic will be detoured as follows:

🔸Eastbound I-70: Use the southbound I-435 ramp, then continue south to use the Kansas Avenue exit ramp. Turn left and continue east to turn left and use the northbound I-435 entrance ramp. Continue north to use the eastbound I-70 ramp.

🔸Westbound I-70: Use the northbound I-435 ramp and travel north to use the West State Avenue exit loop ramp, then continue west on State Avenue to use the southbound I-435 entrance loop ramp. Travel south on I-435 to use the westbound I-70 ramp.

🔸Northbound I-435 to westbound I-70: Continue north to use the West State Avenue exit loop ramp, then continue west on State Avenue to use the southbound I-435 entrance loop ramp. Travel south on I-435 to use the westbound I-70 ramp.

🔸Westbound I-70 to southbound I-435: Use the northbound I-435 ramp and travel north to use the West State Avenue exit loop ramp, then continue west on State Avenue to use the southbound I-435 entrance loop ramp.

🔸Eastbound I-70 to northbound I-435: Use the southbound I-435 ramp, then continue south to use the Kansas Avenue exit ramp. Turn left and travel east to turn left and use the northbound I-435 entrance ramp.

Please note that the Jumping Branch Trail will be closed in preparation for the event starting 10/16 and Renner Brenner Park will be closed 10/15 for event set-up. Both the trail and the park will be open again starting Monday 10/20.
