Count Basie was one of the greatest bandleaders in the history of jazz, a master of swing and blues. Count Count was a leader in presenting big band jazz.
From the 1930s with limited recording technology to capture his band or in the 1950s with the dawn of the hi-fi era Basie’s bands always swung big and bold, yet Basie himself was a laconic soloist.
