On May 20, 2000 a 90-foot section of concrete pedestrian bridge outside the speedway snapped in two and fell 25 feet onto Hwy 29 (a four-lane highway), taking nearly 100 NASCAR fans with it. Fortunately, all patients were transported within approximately 56 minutes and no deaths occured.
*At the time of the incident, the facility was called Lowes Motor Speedway. It has since been changed.
The Board of Directors held the annual membership meeting last night. The updated listing will be sent to all members in the near future. The following positions were also filled:
