The NAACP Kankakee County Branch #3035 extends its sincere appreciation to our Health Committee for its leadership and dedication in supporting the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.

Your commitment to promoting health awareness, supporting cancer survivors, and encouraging community engagement reflects the NAACP’s ongoing mission to advance health equity and improve the quality of life for all. Through your efforts, our branch was able to stand in solidarity with survivors, honor those we have lost, and contribute to the fight against cancer.

As a 13-year cancer survivor, I am especially grateful for the work of our Health Committee and everyone who participated in this important event. Thank you for your service, compassion, and dedication to building a healthier community.

Together, we continue to make a difference.

“Coalition is our currency.”

This powerful phrase reminds us that real change is built through relationships, partnerships, and collective action. No single organization, leader, or community can achieve transformational progress alone. Our strength comes from bringing people together around a common purpose.

I am honored to attend the 2026 Rainbow PUSH Annual Conference under the theme “Fulfilling the American Promise.”

As leaders, advocates, faith leaders, and community members gather to address the challenges and opportunities facing our nation, I look forward to engaging in meaningful conversations that advance justice, equity, economic opportunity, and civic participation for all.

The promise of America is fulfilled when every person has access to opportunity, every voice is valued, and every community has the resources to thrive. Together, we must continue the work of building a more just, inclusive, and equitable society for future generations.

As President of the NAACP Illinois State Conference, I remain committed to strengthening our communities, protecting civil rights, and ensuring that the promise of democracy reaches every corner of our state and nation.

Honored to join fellow civil rights leaders at the 2026 Rainbow PUSH Annual Conference today as we answer one urgent question: How do we carry this movement forward?

This year carries deep meaning. It's the first PUSH Conference since the passing of Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., a giant whose vision helped reshape America. We honor his legacy best by continuing the work.

The American promise still calls to us. Protecting our democracy. Advancing civil rights. Expanding economic opportunity. Strengthening our communities. Building a true multiracial democracy where every person belongs.

That promise is for all of us, or it's for none of us.

117th NAACP National Convention Planning Update

Today, I participated in the planning meeting for the 117th NAACP National Convention, which will take place July 18–22, 2026, at McCormick Place West in Chicago, Illinois.

Our discussions focused on convention programming, ACT-SO, Youth & College engagement, statewide invitations, marketing and communications, volunteer and judge recruitment, AFR updates, development initiatives, and the ongoing needs of the Illinois State Conference.
