I’m grateful for the opportunity to speak about the services we provide and the many community resources available to our seniors. When we come together like this, we strengthen safety, dignity, and quality of life for the people who helped build this community.

Events like today remind me why this work matters.

Social isolation among older adults has become a growing concern across the country, especially after the lasting effects many seniors experienced during the pandemic years.

Losing regular routines, church involvement, transportation, or community connection can significantly affect both mental and physical health. Sometimes the biggest need older adults have is simply a consistent connection.

If you have started worrying every time your parent does not answer the phone right away, you are probably already feeling the emotional weight that comes with caregiving.

Concerns about falls, memory changes, driving, or living alone can create constant stress for families. Having guidance and support can help you make thoughtful decisions instead of reacting during a crisis.

🚨 GRANT OPPORTUNITY ALERT! 🚨

Do you or someone you love live with muscular dystrophy or a neuromuscular disease? If so, you may be eligible for an equipment grant through Laughing at My Nightmare's No More Nightmares Program! 💜

This incredible program provides adaptive equipment grants ranging from $500–$13,000 — paid directly to vendors — for individuals living with muscular dystrophy and their families.

Eligible items include:
🦽 Wheelchair modifications
💻 Computers & communication devices
📱 Smart technology (Amazon Echo, tablets, etc.)
🏥 Adaptive & medical equipment

📅 Cycle 2 Applications Open: July 2, 2026
⏰ Application Deadline: August 2, 2026

To apply, you will need:
✅ Proof of diagnosis on doctor's letterhead
✅ Most recent tax return or SSI statement
✅ 1–2 vendor quotes for the exact item requested

📍 Must reside in the United States. Grants are awarded to individuals OR their direct family members.

Many adult children are quietly managing their parents’ doctor appointments, prescription refills, transportation, grocery shopping, and finances while still working full time and raising their own kids.

If that sounds familiar, you are not alone. Caregiving responsibilities often increase slowly until families suddenly realize how much they are carrying. We would love to connect with you to talk about how we can support you in your journey!

☀️ Heat awareness is trending nationwide, and for good reason. Seniors are more vulnerable to dehydration and heat-related illness — especially during long outdoor days.

Quick tips for a safe summer:
✔ Hydrate often
✔ Wear lightweight clothing
✔ Avoid peak heat (11am–3pm)
✔ Keep medications stored in cool spaces

As families head to pools, lakes, and splash pads, it’s important to remember that water safety matters for everyone, including aging adults and individuals with disabilities.

• Adults 65+ experience a higher risk of slips and falls around wet surfaces.
• People with sensory, mobility, or cognitive disabilities may need extra support in busy or noisy aquatic environments.
• Adaptive swim programs are growing nationwide — a huge win for inclusion this summer.

Let’s make the season safe, joyful, and accessible for all.
