Do you have a spirit for adventure?

This small waterfall is tucked away in a remote canyon, far from the crowds and well beyond the places most people ever see. Reaching it required curiosity, effort, and a willingness to venture beyond the obvious. But that’s often where the best discoveries are made.

We came across a remarkable sight on our recent backpacking trip--juvenile Mexican spotted owlets, newly out of the nest and taking their first steps toward life on their own.
Mexican spotted owls are such striking birds, with dark eyes, rounded faces, and no visible ear tufts. They’re also a threatened species, making an encounter like this feel even more special!

The China Most Travelers Never See

Fresh off the press — our new blog is online now on our website under "EDU."

For Evelyn, this piece is personal. Having grown up in China, she has always wanted to share a side of the country that goes beyond the familiar landmarks — the misty mountain forests, rare wildlife, tea traditions, minority cultures, and the quiet beauty of places many travelers never reach.

In the blog, she reflects on why our new Wild China expedition means so much: giant pandas, golden monkeys, rare pheasants, mountain communities, and the striking contrast between ancient traditions and modern China.

Some places remind us that the greatest rewards are often found beyond the hardest journeys.

After hiking for miles beneath a blazing desert sun, we rounded a bend and discovered this hidden oasis. The cool spring water was more than refreshing—it felt transformative.

Look to Evelyn's right and you'll see streams of cold spring water seeping through sandstone walls draped in ferns and bright monkey flowers. In a landscape defined by heat, rock, and rugged beauty, this vibrant sanctuary feels almost impossible.

This is the Southwest at its finest: challenging, humbling, and endlessly rewarding.

𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮'𝘀 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗶𝗱𝗲--Pandas. Golden monkeys. Rare pheasants. Ancient temples. Tea plantations. Futuristic cityscapes.

Southwest China is one of the most surprising photography destinations we’ve ever explored — a place where misty mountain forests, ancient traditions, and rare wildlife meet the glowing skyline of modern China.

Our new 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮 2027 is timed for peak pheasant breeding season, when some of Asia’s most spectacular birds are in their richest colors and most active displays. It’s a trip of contrasts: wild and urban, ancient and modern, cultural and natural — and one of the most unique wildlife photography adventures we’ve ever offered.

Imagine towering cottonwood trees glowing with brilliant yellow leaves. Now picture those golden trees reflected in floodwaters spread across the dunes. It’s a scene so beautiful it feels almost unreal—a true paradise found. And the best news? We’re heading back in October 2027 to photograph this spectacular landscape at the height of its fall colors.

Raise your hand if you want to know the details! ✋

I’m heading back to one of my favorite places — the Southwest.

Front of mind for me is the ongoing drought across Utah and the Colorado River Basin. Federal projections this spring warned that inflow into Lake Powell could be among the lowest on record, and emergency measures have been taken in recent years to protect water levels and hydropower generation at Glen Canyon Dam.

Lake Powell remains breathtakingly beautiful, but it is also a visible reminder of how fragile water is in the desert.

As photographers, we often chase the beauty of these places — the glow of sandstone at sunset, the quiet of the canyons, the Milky Way stretching across the night sky. But standing above Lake Powell, it’s impossible not to think about the changes happening in real time: receding shorelines, exposed rock, and a landscape being reshaped by drought, demand, and climate.

I hope images like these inspire people not only to appreciate the Southwest, but also to care deeply about its future. The desert has always been a place of extremes, but water is what makes life here possible.
