The Knot just named the defining decor move of 2026: candlelight is leaving the table and rising into the air. Designers are calling it "the year of light that floats" — pillar candles suspended in clear glass orbs, hung lantern clusters, and floating chandeliers overhead, with florals dropped to floor level so no one's view is ever blocked. The Knot puts it simply: the ceiling is now "the main character."
It's a trend that asks a lot of a room — and gives everything back to a room that already has good bones. Inside the lodge, the light climbs straight up the exposed timber beams and pools in the wood, so the architecture does half the design work for you. Clean tables, open sightlines, and a warm amber glow that makes every photo look like dusk in the mountains.

Right. Here's where the floral budget quietly leaks: couples spend it where guests sit. At cocktail hour there are no plates and no seated sightlines — everyone is standing, looking up, for a full hour. The most-seen floral moment of the night. Yet the money goes into fifteen dinner centerpieces guests look straight past. Concentrate it — one lush moment at the bar, bud vases on the tables. And a big install is priced on rigging and labor, not stems. Ask what the ceremony arch can become before you buy a new one. That's a mistake brides only make once.

The Wed just called it: silver is the metallic moment of 2026, and gold is quietly stepping aside. But the bigger story on the 2026 reception table isn't the shine — it's the texture. Designers at Reverie Social, CV Linens, and Zola are all pointing to the same look: a velvet runner with weight and depth, a sheer organza overlay catching the light, mixed-texture napkins layered instead of matched, and cool silver flatware and candlesticks tying it together. Flat, single-fabric tables are out; lived-in, dimensional ones are in.
That layered, natural look feels right at home under timber beams. At The Roost Lodge, the room already brings the texture — real wood, mountain light, honest materials — so a velvet-and-sheer table in emerald or sage doesn't fight the space, it finishes it. One striking detail, beautifully lit, no gilding required.

Right. Put the steamer down.
Before anyone touches that gown the morning of, find out what it is made of. Most dresses want steam — but silk-satin, taffeta, dupioni and shantung do the opposite. Steam them and they pucker, and worse, they water-spot, and that does not come out. Those get a low iron and a press cloth, never a wand.
Three rules whatever the fabric: clean water only, hold the wand three to six inches off, and do it the night before so it dries fully. Bold of you to assume you will have a calm spare hour at nine in the morning. You will not.

"Lawn is big. Living area is spacious. Great deck with BBQ. Hot tub was big and water was clean and clear. Kitchen fixtures well stocked." — Otto ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Some reviews read like vacation diaries. Otto's reads like a checklist — every box ticked, every detail noticed. That's the kind of stay we're built for: family-sized groups who want everything where they need it and nothing in the way.

Right. Everyone treats the rehearsal as a formality. It's the hour that decides whether tomorrow looks effortless.
The move nobody makes: don't start with the walk in. Start at the end. Set everyone in their final marks first — exact spots, who stands where — then back them out and walk into those positions. People who know where they're going stop drifting and freezing. The entrance fixes itself.
One more, free: each pair steps off when the couple ahead is halfway back up the aisle. Even gaps photograph clean. Uneven gaps are a mistake brides only make once.

The Knot's 2026 Flower Forecast just renamed the centerpiece. It isn't on the table anymore — it grew through the floor.
"Sunken meadows" are the floral image of the year: vase-less wildflower mounds of butter-yellow ranunculus, white peonies, blue scabiosa, hellebores, wispy native grasses, and trailing greenery sprawling between and around reception tables at floor level. No vases breaking the sightline. No tabletop arrangement competing with the conversation. Today.com calls it "the wild, authentic, ground-level garden."
The Roost Lodge was built for this. Sixteen-foot timber farm tables on lawn that holds beautifully May through October, with the Flathead County treeline carrying the rest of the view. The flowers grow up out of the ground between the tables, and your guests sit *inside* the garden — not at it.

Right. The honeymoon insurance mistake almost everyone makes: they buy it the week before they fly.
By then the best part is gone. Cancel-for-any-reason coverage and the pre-existing-condition waiver are time-locked — you usually have to add them within two to three weeks of your first deposit, not your departure date. Miss that window and no money buys it back for that trip. Even then, cancel-for-any-reason refunds only about 75 percent, and only if you cancel at least two days out.
So insure the honeymoon the same afternoon you book it. Not in the chaos of final payments.
Bold of you to assume the airline will be sympathetic. They won't. The policy is.

This week Pinterest dropped its 2026 Wedding Trends Report — seven billion wedding searches, sixteen-point-seven billion saves — and named cabin and lodge weddings the year's "unconventional venue." Same week, The Knot's 2026 Flower Forecast named "meadowcore" the defining floral philosophy of the year: vase-less, sculptural, growing ground-up from the table itself.
We're built for both. A sixteen-foot timber farm table in the great room. A pleated butter-yellow Italian-crush velvet runner instead of plain linen. A flower mound that rises mid-runner — white peonies, butter ranunculus, pale hellebores, trailing sage — no vase to break the line. Cream taper candles in slim brass holders. Mocha-mousse napkins folded loosely. Texture is the new color of 2026, and butter yellow is its emotional heart.

The orchard gets the foreground. The lodge takes the light.
A May evening on the property, the sun dropping low enough to set the timber glowing and catch in the blossoms still hanging on the young trees. You walk the rows after dinner — half to check on the fruit, half just to stand in it. The grass is in, the windows go warm, and the whole place settles into that good kind of quiet. Montana gives you about an hour of this a day. Worth being outside for all of it.
