My goal is to help make physical therapy standard practice for women during pregnancy and during the postpartum period. This is such an important time to strengthen, facilitate healing, and restore activity safely. I emphasize pelvic floor training, core strengthening, and movement and body mechanic training. I also use manual therapy techniques, personalized exercises to improve strength and flexibility, movement analysis and training, and personalized treatment plans designed for each patient.

Posture!- again: There are many postural changes that happen during and after pregnancy. Good posture equals good alignment, which provides a strong base for your movement everyday.
Postural exercise to be done throughout the day:
- feel equal weight on both your feet
- shift ribs slightly so they are stacked right on top of your pelvis
- Pull your shoulders back lightly, feel a gentle stretch across your collar bones
- Slightly tuck your chin and lengthen the back of your neck- as if a string is pulling you up through the back of your head
You want to feel stable in your daily posture. If your kid was going to run and jump into your arms do you anticipate it would hurt? If you start with good alignment, this will set you up for everything life throws (or jumps) your way
Physical therapy should be offered to every pregnant and postpartum woman! The musculoskeletal changes your body goes through during and after pregnancy are truly amazing- let a movement specialist help guide you to get your muscles balanced, strong, and ready for a busy mama life!
