Beverly uses collage, sculpture, and installation in an attempt to wryly articulate current socio-political anxieties. Through her characteristic mode of intricately crafted and surrealistic image-building, she skewers this contemporary theme with her familiar arsenal of cannibalized magazines, advertisements, and other appropriated images.

In honor of our current recent resident artist, Beverly Fitzpatrick (Heavyweight Collager of the World), Makeshift invited Kalamazoo to collage with us for a night of creativity, conversation, and community engagement. The turnout was a diverse group of new and familiar faces, all of which contributed to a total of 64 collages! As the night progressed, our blank gallery walls slowly filled with some pretty amazing work. Thanks, Kalamazoo!
