The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for the Kalamazoo area from noon until 8:00 p.m. today. With temperatures near 90 degrees and high humidity, it could feel as hot as 100 degrees this afternoon.
If you're spending time outdoors, be sure to drink plenty of water, take breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and check in on family members, friends, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to the heat.
There are several ways to cool off around Kalamazoo today, including splash pads, Woods Lake Beach, the Kik Pool, cooling centers, hydration stations, and designated cooling hydrants.
There's also a chance for strong thunderstorms this evening, likely after 7:00 p.m. While the storms should bring some relief from the heat, they could also produce damaging wind gusts. If severe weather develops, move indoors and stay tuned for updates from the National Weather Service.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay weather aware today!
