I started this filly last summer! So cool to see her go on with someone else! She was with me for almost 90 days!

NFR looks a little different for us this year, but I am so thankful for everyone reaching out and making it an easy decision to go! Can’t wait to treat an amazing array of athletes. DM with any questions and for scheduling 💪🏼

6.1 million in progeny earnings with only 229 competing, average $26,785 per money earner.
He is the youngest sire in the top 33 all time producing barrel sires. Not bad for a horse who got a very late start in the breeding game due to a hock fracture as a yearling. We could not have done any of this without you all and I am forever grateful ♥️

I always joke when someone makes the comment that it must be nice to make money with horses, that I spent a million dollars to learn how to make a thousand… and I’m pretty sure that’s the truth.
When I give someone advice or my opinion… it’s not because “I know” it’s because, I assure you, I learned it the hard way.
I have started over 100 times. Everytime I have felt like I was gaining ground, I got knocked down to the bottom again. It’s left me with a non stop thirst for knowledge to be the best I can be at whatever task I’m looking to accomplish. I try to not make the same mistakes over… although it does happen occasionally. 😅
I learned how to move on good deals quickly. I learned to read people better. I learned to read horses better. I have learned what steadily works out for me, and what doesn’t. I ask a million questions. I make the best guess I can with the information at hand. If it’s the wrong decision, we reevaluate, and make another decision.
Now, sometimes.. those are bad decisions. 🤣 and I learn not to do that again. I’m not afraid to cut my losses. I want to reiterate this point…
I hear ALL. THE. TIME…. People not wanting to take a loss on a horse, and instead, spend the money they would have made caring for said horse, are miserable, horse goes cripple in the meantime, worth hardly nothing, whatever, a million things can happen and change while you have fluffy standing around.
Now I’m not saying you have to take a loss on everything, but don’t be afraid to pay your “stupid tax” for making a decision that didn’t work out.
Sometimes I have a horse that’s not a fit for me that I would dang near give away to get it off my trailer. Out of my barn. Bye. 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 and whoever ends up with said horse, LOVES IT. So, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad horse, just not the horse for me.
What I have learned in this process, is to see the WHOLE picture, and see that you might take a loss on fluffy, but now you can get something better, (this doesn’t mean more expensive, there are still a lot of nice horses out there that are affordable.) You might have to get something younger or something that needs some wet saddle pads, but once you break out of that bad juju and cut that dead weight… you are prepared to climb the mountain!
On the flip side I got some friends that end up paying quite a bit more, because they were nervous to jump when the opportunity presented itself the first time.
Make sure you are ready when an opportunity presents itself.

Story time..... its a little long 🥹🥹
Friday Night Rory had a record run for her. She clocked a smoking fast time and placed 3rd in the Juniors at the Rodeo. We were ecstatic. I, had a run i was proud of too on Friday. I did happen to start the turn a hair early for the 3rd barrel, but I was stoked. Huge Progress, i was still excited 💪
Well Saturday rolls around, I had a clean run, but we wallered around the 1st and it cost me a lot. I was almost a half second slower. I was UPSET & MAD. Sweet Rory, while braiding her horses mane, tells me, "Mom, Heaven did wonderful you didn't hit a barrel " She made me smile. But i was still pitching a little fit
Rory was up in slack, she didn't have near the run she had the night before. She was a half second slower. As I walk back to the trailer to see her, she is putting Cashs halter on and I see a few tears. (📢QUICK BACK STORY, Rory is doing this for fun, she has fun. Rule #1 is to have fun. No pressure. We are not wanting her to get burnt out, letting her come on at her pace) So the tears threw me off. I ask Rory, what she thought of her run, and that I was PROUD of her. She says in her most sad, mad, and upset voice, "I was a 17!!" LIKE it really was the end of the world. In my head, I'm thinking OH MY GOD, this is me, this is a Mini Mandy. 😲😳 but part of me was like wow, she was disappointed, she wanted to be more competitive. I was a little impressed. So I gave her a hug, told her its okay to be upset. Also, told her what she told me, ya know, you had a clean run, it was good. Well she didn't want to hear that. 😆😆I then asked Rory, if she had her watch phone on. Through tears, she nods her head and asked why? I told her to set her timer for 5 minutes. Again, she asked why? I told her its okay to be upset, throw a fit, but she has 5 minutes to do it. 5 minutes to throw all the fit she wants. Then after that, we need to MOVE ON and put it behind us. I leave her to finish untacking her horse, and head back to the arena. A little bit later, here comes Rory. Like nothing was ever wrong. 😄
Fast forward to Sunday...... We are heading into town to get a new Washer & Dryer..... Rory hands me this note. Cursive is new, she's just learning it now. It kind of melted my heart. ❤️
We had a great afternoon and went and got ice cream later.
Be this a friendly reminder to, shake it off. Put it behind you! Don't let the last runs define you.
I hope this makes you smile, it did me.
