Mangroves cover less than 0.1% of the world's land area, yet they remove up to 870,000 metric tons of nitrogen pollution from coastal waters each year, providing an estimated $8.5 billion in ecological benefits. Beyond improving water quality, they store carbon, support wildlife, and help protect coastal communities from storms, making them one of nature's most valuable ecosystems.

🌿 Urban trees are more than shade providers. Researchers found that tree canopy can cancel nearly half of the urban heat island effect while also supporting biodiversity, improving mental health, and protecting communities from dangerous heat.

The VISTA Award by VoLo Foundation is a competitive grant program empowering student-led research that brings Vision, Innovation, Sustainability, Technology, and Action to climate solutions.

We’re calling on graduate teams from U.S.-based universities to submit projects that drive real impact in Florida. Finalists will present their projects at the 2027 Climate Correction™ conference in Orlando, and one winning team will receive a $25,000 research grant to bring their idea to life.
