A huge thank you to the Women of the Moose, Chapter 439!

We are so grateful for their incredible kindness in treating every mother and child in our emergency shelter and transitional housing programs for both Easter and Mother’s Day.

Watching the children light up while opening their Easter baskets, and knowing the mothers felt seen and celebrated brought joy to our staff as well.

It’s thoughtfulness and generosity like this that make our community so special, thank you.✨

Imagine getting r**ed by your driving instructor. He goes to prison but gets released after claiming that your jeans were so tight you must have helped him remove them.

🗣️ Your community hears about it, and protests, in jeans, until there's a public uproar that sweeps the country and beyond, & the ra**st is re-sentenced to prison.

This is the true story of an 18 year old Italian woman in the 90's. Ever since then, the day the ra**sts conviction was overturned has been known as Denim Day, a day of awareness and advocacy for sexual assault survivors.

In honor of Denim Day 2026 Aware is organizing an event called Denim Day Fashion Show.

Volunteer models will show off jeans and sassy statement shirts about consent and accountability.

💪🏽 We need and want the MEN of our community to come!!!

There are lots of ways to support, including modeling a shirt (provided), passing out swag or helping out backstage.

Christina Michelle (Aware) is pictured being interviewed by Mike Lane (KTOO Reporter) about the details:

Wednesday 4/29
6:00 p.m.
Crystal Saloon
Family friendly (under 21 welcome with parent)

👟 Models get 50% off of shoes from Shoefly

DJ Al Boogie will bring the tunes

Silent Bookclub of Juneau will be there with suggested reading for SA advocacy.

Come celebrate, honor and learn in this creative and fun way. Link to sign up for a reminder or to participate in the comments.
