I am taking a break from social media to focus on being the neighbor our community needs right now.
Lately, the political rhetoric has triggered a trauma response I’ve carried for a long time: I freeze. This isn’t a new response for me, but I am learning to grow by finally recognizing it for what it is. I’ve realized that staying in this overstimulated state isn’t productive for me or the causes I care about.
By removing the noise, I am taking an intentional step to move out of freeze and back into a place of productivity. I am listening to the unhealed person in me and recognizing that my best work—and my ability to contribute to any meaningful change—is accomplished when I choose to step away from the overstimulation.
While I strive to keep this a space for everyone, I want to be very clear about where I stand: I do not condone or agree with the actions of ICE in Minnesota. These actions are fundamentally against my values and the vision I have for a safe, compassionate community.
For me, social media is a place for our wins, our art, and our families; but right now, that voice isn’t the one that needs to be heard here. I am intentionally making room for those who currently have the stamina and mental stability to guide change in this digital space.
Even though I’ll be quiet here, I will be working behind the scenes. I’ll be calling representatives, standing up for what is right, and being a safe place to land for friends who need to talk or cry. I’m focusing on being the neighbor Mr. Rogers encouraged us all to be.
If you’d like to stay up to date with the studio in a more intentional, quiet way, please sign up for my email newsletter. LiaiseStudio.com/newsletter-signup (or follow the link in my bio).
Please take care of yourselves. You are all precious to me.

Studio is closed until January 8.
I don’t know about you, but this snow has been overwhelming and all encompassing. Rumor has it that the downtown streets are still rough, and so I’m encouraging everyone to stay home if they can.
In the meantime, you can shop at my online store (LiaiseStudio.com/shop). Stay safe and sane out there as you clear roofs, cars, and berms.

Happy New Year from under a mountain of snow! ❄️
Juneau is currently buried in a once-in-a-century storm. We’ve seen 4–6 feet of snow since Saturday, and the city has more or less come to a standstill. My days have been a blur of towering snow berms and endless shoveling. 🧤
Since we’re all forced to slow down, I’m sharing a favorite piece from my December show. It’s made with coffee pigment—the perfect vibe for a slow, cozy morning.
☕️ Want to bring this piece home? I’ve just added this as a digital download on my Patreon! For as little as $6/month, you can support my work and get fresh art for your screens or walls. https://www.patreon.com/c/christinecarpenter
Or you can buy the print from my shop. https://liaisestudio.com/shop/p/a-cuppa

Big news! I’m so excited to share my recent conversation with !
We talked about the magic of the Juneau creative community, the trial and error of learning a niche craft, and why supporting artists goes way beyond just buying a painting.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Liaise Studio—whether you’ve taken a workshop, shared my work, or just followed along with my pigment-making adventures. You are part of this story!
