JPD announced they have received accreditation through the Oregon Accreditation Alliance (OAA). The accreditation process helps the JPD remain current with best practices across the country, said Lt. Krag Campbell, helping the department to avoid stagnation in its policys.

What I would like to know is, what are the policies regarding missing persons? So I looked it up. See the wording and link below.
It seems that certain community members are active in following up and sharing about missing persons (I say certain individuals are actively investigated by JPD, and feel comfortable stating that investigations wane quickly depending on the individual missing).

Per OAA standards:

2.2.4 – Missing Persons
A written directive specifies the procedures for investigating missing persons, to include:
a. Requirement to accept reports;
b. Procedures for the initial investigation;
c. Responsibility for follow-up investigation;
d. Data entry and clearance of missing persons into/from LEDS and NCIC; and
e. Initiation and activation criteria for Amber Alert.
f. Requirement for notification to Missing Children’s Clearinghouse (MCCH) for missing
juveniles when case involves Custodial Interference 1 & 2 or Kidnapping 1 & 2.; and
g. Minimum training requirements for law enforcement personnel to interact effectively with individuals with cognitive impairment, including but not limited to, dementia, intellectual
and developmental disabilities and brain injuries.
Purpose: To ensure that reported missing person cases, particularly those involving minor
children and missing vulnerable adults, are investigated as soon as possible, utilizing all available resources in compliance with statutory requirements ORS 146.181, 181A.310, 181A.320 (revised
11/01/2020).

Does JPD meet these standards?

In a recent article in the Juneau Empire, Chief Ed Mercer said in a news release. “We identified several things that required attention and many, many more things that we are already doing well.” Here is the full article https://www.juneauempire.com/news/police-department-completes-reaccreditation-process/

Sounds like he is very sure they are doing all they can, in regards to all police policy's.
But are they? I know several people that could reason otherwise in his the department investigates and reports on missing individuals in Juneau Alaska.
